日本のスギよりも耐久性や強度に優れ、台湾では樹齢1000年を超え御神木のような扱いを受けるものもある。
建築材や天井板などに多く使われる。

Exhibiting superior structural integrity and decay resistance compared to Japanese Cedar (Cryptomeria japonica), certain specimens in Taiwan exceed a millennium in age and are revered as sacred arboreal monuments.
The timber is extensively utilized for high-grade construction components and architectural ceiling paneling.
