Autumnal leaves are a beautiful tree
The name “kaede” is said to come from “kaerude,” meaning “frog’s hand,” because the leaves resemble a frog’s hands. Its beautiful color and the even more attractive finish it takes on when polished make it a popular material for furniture, flooring, musical instruments, and baseball bats. Representative Japanese maples include the Japanese maple and painted maple, while overseas, the sugar maple—which produces maple syrup—is the best known.
