Classic high-class interior materials from the past
Karin (Burmese Rosewood) is a very hard and durable legume wood known since ancient times as a high-grade material for its beautiful coloring. It is a different species from the Karin (Chinese Quince) of the rose family, which is popular as a garden or fruit tree. It is also famous as a lucky tree; due to a play on words meaning "I'll lend money, but I won't borrow (karin) any," it is said that planting a Karin tree in the front yard and an oak (kashi) tree in the back—suggesting "lending (kashi) but not borrowing"—will lead to a thriving business.
