日本伝統工芸の漆の木

塗料として美術工芸品に使われる漆で知られている木。漆の語源は、「麗し（うるわし）」「潤し（うるおし）」とも言われる。古来より、触るとかぶれるという漆特有の力から、邪魔なものを寄せ付けない力がある魔除けとして重宝されてきた。果物のマンゴーもウルシ科のひとつで、漆の新芽は食べることができ、みそ汁や天ぷらにすると美味しいと言われる。
