It is widely used for furniture, sculptures, turned objects, and musical instrument parts. Its greatest appeal and defining characteristic is that, with age and use, it develops from a pale pinkish brown into a beautiful, richly patinated amber hue. Another distinctive feature is the presence of gum pockets, where brown, resin-like substances are secreted and accumulate.
