乾燥が早い樹種ですが、乾燥中、乾燥後にわずかな変形、収縮が見られます。虫害を受けにくく、耐朽性にも優れている為、一度、加工してしまえば、非常に良質な材料となります。
外観が美しく、色調がややウォルナットに近い為、ウォルナットの代用品などとしても用いられます。
