A beautiful, stately tree used in Shinto rituals

The azusa bows used in Shinto rituals are made from mizume cherry, which is also the Imperial Household’s emblem tree. Its distinctive grain resembles tiger stripes, making it a prized material for fine furniture. However, it is difficult to work with, and crafting it into furniture requires considerable skill.
