最大で樹高100ｍにもなる世界最長の木であり、別名セコイアとも。恐竜時代から化石の記録があり、かつては世界の大半で見られたが現在は北カリフォルニアにのみ生育している。現在レッドウッドの森は95%以上が国立公園に指定され、区域内の木は厳格かつ永久に保全される。アメリカでは古くより神の木として親しまれている木で、耐水性や腐敗に強くエクステリアにも向いている。
The tallest and largest tree inhabited by a god
The world’s tallest tree, reaching heights of up to 100 meters, it is also known as the sequoia. Fossil records date back to the age of the dinosaurs. It once grew across much of the world, but today it is found only in Northern California. More than 95% of today’s redwood forests are designated as national parks, where the trees are strictly and permanently protected. Long revered in America as sacred trees, redwoods are also water-resistant and rot-resistant, making them suitable for outdoor use.
