別名をサペリマホガニーともいい、柾目面に木材組織の帯が規則正しく配列した美しいリボン杢が現れるのが特徴。木肌はマホガニーに似て高級家具や銀行の造作、無垢のドアなどに対する最高の素材として認められている。また、ギターにも使われている。

Also known as sapelli mahogany, this timber is distinguished by its beautiful ribbon figure, formed by the regular alignment of wood grain bands on the quarter-sawn surface. Its appearance is similar to mahogany, and it is regarded as an outstanding material for high-end furniture, bank interiors, and solid-wood doors. It is also used in guitars.
