wood used for matchsticks

It was called “sawagurumi” because it grows along streams and rivers. It is also known as “yamagiri” because it resembles paulownia.
Despite its name, its nuts are not edible.
The wood is used for wooden clogs, the sides of drawers, and thin wooden sheets. Because it is white, easy to ignite, and resistant to breaking, it is also used to make matchsticks.
The bark, called “kawami,” was used for thatching the roofs of mountain huts and other structures.
