鎮守の森の木

日本全国各地の神社の「鎮守の森」によく大木として育っている木。特に材の赤みが強いものをアカタブ (赤椨) と呼び、色の淡いものと比べ良質材とされる。家具材、器具材、床板、ベニヤ板などに使用。

A tree in the sacred grove

A tree that often grows into a large specimen in the sacred groves of shrines throughout Japan. Those with particularly reddish wood are called akatabu (赤椨) and are considered higher quality than those with paler wood. Used for furniture, implements, flooring, plywood, and other products.
