柾目の美しい木

針葉樹としては重硬な材質で木目が詰まり糸のような柾目（糸柾）が美しいため建材として用いられるほか、樹皮からタンニンを取り漁網を染めるのに使われた。また、秋篠宮文仁皇嗣殿下のお印に用いられている。 柱、長押、敷居などの建築材、梱包材などに使用される。

Beautiful grain of straight grain

For a conifer, it has hard, heavy wood with a dense grain, and its beautiful, threadlike straight grain makes it suitable for building materials. Tannin was also extracted from its bark and used to dye fishing nets. It is also the emblem of His Imperial Highness Crown Prince Fumihito of Akishino. The wood is used for construction materials such as pillars, nageshi rails, and thresholds, as well as for packaging.
