「森の王様」とも呼ばれる木

ニュージーランドのマオリ族は、アガチスの樹高が最大45mほどの大木に成長することから、畏敬の念を込めて「森の王様」と呼ぶ。家具用としては箪笥のひきだし用材として使われ、彫刻を施した玄関のドアの材料としても利用される。また長押、敷居の材料として使われるほか、楽器の材料やギターのボディ材としても活用されている。

Tree also called "the King of the Forest"

The Māori of New Zealand reverently call the kauri tree (Agathis) the “King of the Forest” because it grows into a giant tree that can reach about 45 meters tall. As a furniture wood, it is used for dresser drawers and carved entry doors. It is also used for decorative beams and thresholds, as well as for musical instruments and guitar bodies.
