アフリカ原産で、淡褐色と濃褐色の縞模様を有した灰褐色の樹種。ゼブラウッドに比べて縞模様は薄くコントラストも低く柔らかい印象。乾燥による反りが少なく、長く使っていても不具合が出にくい。化粧単板や家具材などに使われる。

A grayish-brown wood species native to Africa, with stripes of light and dark brown. Compared with zebrawood, its stripes are subtler and less contrasting, giving it a softer appearance.
