山車にも使う堅い木

木に堅いと書くことからも分かるように、材質は非常に堅いため、山車の車輪にも使われる。粘りがあり強度も高く耐久性に優れるため、道具類、建築用材、和太鼓のバチなどに使われる。常緑樹であるために防風林としての機能も果たし、生葉・生木は燃え難いこともあり、隣家火災の延焼を防止する機能もある。

Hard tree used for floats
