黒柿のような木目の銘木

柾目に縞が入りバブル模様を描く、独特な木目が特徴。木目が黒柿に似ているところからシャム柿と付けられたが柿の木ではない。仏具、床廻り材、船舶内装、家具の化粧材、彫刻物、装飾品に使われる。
